Doors open at 8:10 a.m. and school begins at 8:15 a.m. Please remind your child to line up on the blue line right outside the classroom. If you arrive after 8:15 a.m., you must check in at the office. Dismissal is at 2:15 p.m and your child will be dismissed from Door 4 to the courtyard Please wave to me when you see your child standing at the door. Please be sure to notify the office (781-596-8812) if someone else will be picking up your child or put a note in his/her home-school folder. You may also write a note to say that “I authorize __________ to pick up my child whenever I am unavailable,” then you will not need to call each time. Also, please call the office to report your child’s absences or if you need an early dismissal.
Early Release Schedule:
School ends at 12:30 p.m. and lunch is served.
We will use these for the entire year to send home notices, homework, and completed work. Please help your child remember to empty it daily and return it to their backpack. I tell the children this is their responsibility to show their parents the contents of the folder, but they still may need gentle reminders!
We will acknowledge birthdays in our class! You may donate a puzzle, an age-appropriate game or favorite book for our classroom library This is completely optional. Please, no food treats please as we often have children with allergies. Every child will have the opportunity to bring home Birthday Bear. Within Birthday Bear’s bag there will be their birthday crown, birthday books that you can read to your child as they cuddle with Birthday Bear and a special class birthday book made by your child’s classmates, along with a pencil and card that your child may keep. I simply ask that you return the books and birthday bear back in the birthday bag he was sent in.
Invitations may not be passed out in school unless ALL children are invited. Invites must take place outside of school otherwise.
Appropriate Clothing and Footwear:
Our classroom will be an interactive one to better facilitate learning. Please send your child in appropriate, worry-free clothing. Especially rubber soled (such as sneakers) for safe climbing and outdoor running. We want all children to feel comfortable to interact and be safe while doing so. I would also ask that you send in a change of clothes in a labeled ziplock bag, please include hats and mittens for cooler weather.
We will be having a morning snack time. Please send in a NUTRITIOUS snack for your child- water/juice and one HEALTHY treat. NO candy or soda is allowed for snack. Fruit is always a good idea. This is a time for a quick “recharge”, so a simple and easy to open snack is appreciated!
**Due to potential allergies within the kindergarten, we ask that NO NUT PRODUCTS be sent in for snack time. Please read labels carefully and be mindful of this request.**
When bringing a lunch from home please make sure you write your child’s name on their lunch bag/lunchbox. If your child is buying lunch please put the money in an envelope marked with the choice 1,2, or 3 and be sure to put your child’s name on it and put “KM” on it. For more information about Food Services, it is located on the Clarke home page on the left menu bar. If your child has a lunch ticket, please still send in their choice on a piece of paper with the above information.
Check your child’s home/school folder each night. All written work should be in pencil, unless otherwise noted.
Remind your child of proper letter formation. They should be reminded that there should only be an uppercase letter for the first letter of their name.
